The relief Old Quarter Fashion Week (#OQFW) draws from the Hàng Trống folk painting Múa Rồng (Dragon Dance), with its significance amplified by its placement in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, the historical heart of this art form.

As Vietnam’s economy expands and global influences reshape daily life, desires are shifting. Keeping warm and being well-fed no longer suffice; we now aspire to luxury and status, as seen in the growing presence of international fashion brands. In reimagining Múa Rồng (Dragon Dance), I’ve reinterpreted the lively characters of the folk painting through the lens of logomania. The work questions what is more recognizable—age-old traditions or the modern symbols of consumer culture—and invites reflection on how these forces coexist and shape one another.
